It was finally summer break! Makala and Henry were very excited because they were going to spend the summer at the farm. Makala had spent summers with Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw before, but this would be Henry’s first time to stay all summer.

Makala loved going to the farm. She looked forward to seeing her cousins that lived nearby. She loved helping Maw-Maw bake pies to enter the summer fair. Last year, they won three blue ribbons! Once, she helped take care of two orphaned calves and a piglet. They are all grown now and living a lazy life on the farm. One summer, she and Paw-Paw went looking for buried treasures, and they found some! They found where Molly, the farm dog, had buried Paw-Paw’s hat, his old pair of glasses, and one of Maw-Maw’s aprons.

They were excited just thinking about what new adventures this summer would bring!
