In the year of our Lord, 1823, Williamsburg, Virginia, Sophia Thorn lives on a tobacco plantation, but life is far from peaceful. Her father is a tyrant and she longs to escape to a new life, away from his control. Her twin brother, Isaac, unbeknown to her father, earns his money from piracy and between them they are trying to save enough money so that she can escape. But it isn't easy.
