A Legacy in Scraps
By: J. A. Campsey
A Legacy in Scraps is a nonfiction biographical account of a young woman suddenly stricken by a mysterious life-threatening disease, the elusive cause and erratic course of which challenges the diagnostic and medical management skills of a multidisciplinary team of physicians and intensive care nurses. As the harrowing medical crisis unfolds, the patient and her family are confronted with page-turning dramatic moments of tension and suspense. Readers will recognize subtle investigative similarities between this medical mystery and that of a felonious crime. The ultimate takeaway of this story is the extraordinary self-healing power that exists within us all.
About the Author
J. A. Campsey earned a Master of Education from Duquesne University and a Master of Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a nurse educator for many years at both diploma and collegiate levels, after which she served as the Director of Education at a community hospital. Retired now, following a forty-three-year career in healthcare, she lives in a small rural community in southwestern Pennsylvania with her husband, Mike, a retired family therapist and elementary school guidance counselor. As long-time environmentalists, they are both advocates for environmental justice; the welfare of wildlife and their habitats; animal rights; and protection of the finite natural resources within their watershed. Outdoor enthusiasts, as well, she and her husband enjoy hiking and birding in the countryside near their home and annual trips to our national parks.
