Follow three young men as they journey from adolescence to early adulthood in an alternate, futuristic society.

Speedy lives in a close-knit rural community far removed from some of the harsh realities that are experienced by other people in the vast empire he resides in. When those realities tragically converge on him and his village, he sets off on a journey to exact revenge and find the girl he loves.

Shadow and his brother are the results of a military campaign to create the perfect human weapons for the battlefield. The only purpose for their being is warfare, but Shadow has a major design flaw which threatens his ability to carry out that purpose.

Zero was adopted at birth by the head of a huge criminal organization. This act wasn't entirely out of the kindness of this man's heart, however. Like all the other viewpoint characters, Zero was born with an extremely rare supernatural ability. When knowledge of this ability is leaked, Zero's adopted father places him in the care of one of his most trusted underlings.
