Clint Durby was an easygoing, fun-loving cowboy who didn’t mind honest hard work. However, he had no patience for what the bosses of the Sawtooth Cattle Syndicate had him doing while most of the working hands were out at roundup. Clint and the cowboys left behind had taken turns catering to the whims of the three owners. A senator, an English nobleman, and a railroad magnate, their kind of sport was perching on wooden platforms hidden by pine boughs while the cowboys drove wild game past the shooting stands. Big Jim Ralston would even demand his choice of prey, telling Clint, We’ll want elk today.
