A dog named Max is after a strange critter and follows him into a wormhole that zooms him to an even stranger world where he meets a young girl named Marigold and all three set off on a dangerous quest in search of magic stones that can get Max and Marigold back home.

When Max sees a blinding light zoom across the yard, followed by a strange looking critter, he’s on the chase. Max follows the little critter into a wormhole and ends up in another world where he meets a young girl named Marigold who also traveled through the wormhole. It’s up to Max, Marigold, and Runic (the critter Max chased) to get Max and Marigold back home. To do this, they need a special crystal from the cavern of stones. Their journey to the cavern is filled with 10-foot vultures, groppers (super-long killing snakes), killing trees, quicksand, and other things that make Max and Marigold cringe. They rely on each other to finally find the crystal, only to lose it in a battle with the vultures. To get home, Max and Marigold have to face Runic’s fire-breathing dragon family. Runic’s oldest brother wants to turn Max to toast, but Runic’s mother senses the friendship they developed. She gives Max and Marigold a magical indigo stone that will get them home and allow them to come back whenever they want.
