In the many years I have been an educator, the innate desire of teachers to help every child in their care has never failed to amaze me. However, often the inability to seek adequate or timely guidance hampers this. As a result, many children drop out and society loses a valuable contributing member.
Teacher training - and more so - training for teaching children with special needs is still minimal, especially in a developing country such as ours. Though there are specialized courses, few opt for these. Therefore, teachers flounder when a child in the class does not conform.
This book is dedicated to all the teachers I have worked with in my three decades of teaching and to all the heads of schools who had the vision to support children who needed extra intervention, help, and support.
