Into the Light
By: Elizabeth D'Amour
At the age of eighty-eight, Elizabeth D'Amour finally feels ready to explore her past. After a traumatic experience in her youth, D'Amour’ siblings recall a different narrative entirely, even going so far as to call her a liar. A less violent tale was recorded in their family history, leaving her siblings to live their lives normally, with love and joy, while D'Amour suffered under the weight of the horrific truth. Now able to finally share her truth with the world, D'Amour is learning to confront her past and walk Into the Light.
About the Author
After growing up under the controlling reign of her alcoholic father and jealous mother, Elizabeth D'Amour remained silent about her experiences until the age of thirty when she found a group to share her experiences and begin to heal. She attended the Alanon group session for thirty-six years, and she was able to learn why she was unable to know her true self. This step forward, along with thirty-two years of counseling, allowed her to express her true feelings and build a better life for herself. She went on to receive her master’s degree and began teaching as well as becoming a popular local artist in her town.
D'Amour currently resides on the north shore of Massachusetts. She enjoys life and her four children and three grandchildren.
