Playing double stop octaves on the cello is no longer an impossible feat. These exercises, designed to build your left-hand strength and teach placement, are the first step in a system that makes playing octaves possible. After you have studied thumb position (see Thumb Position for the Cello, Book One and Thumb Position School), the next step in advanced cello playing would be learning octaves, and this is the book that teaches them. This book would be most helpful when studied with an instructor.
