The theme of the book is vengeance. The time is the twenty-fourth century. Tyler Weeks was the 20-year-old brother of preteen Esther Monique, who was murdered in a vicious assault. He and a friend were accused of her death, but were cleared by DNA evidence. Now he is looking for the real killer. Sangamon Prime is the home to the Puyallup colony. Daryl and Theresa Weeks were devastated by their daughter's murder. Once cleared, their son Tyler dedicates his life to solving crimes and becomes an intern in the Puyallup Crime Lab, which is working his sister's murder case, though Tyler is kept out of the loop. When DNA evidence finally leads to the real murderer of Tyler's sister, his whole family is allowed in on the interrogation. After the death by "suicide" of the antagonist, Tyler is offered membership in the region's ultra-secret band of Vigilantes. He uses the latest in technology to apprehend criminals far and wide. But vengeance is not the total theme of the novel. When Colleen, a lovely maid, enters the Tyler household, she divulges a secret to Tyler. She was implanted with the fertilized eggs of his deceased sister. Smitten with Colleen, Tyler marries her and they have two children, one of them a girl, who will forever receive the love he would have bestowed on his little sister.
