Mark’s account is the shortest of the four gospels, but his style hardly allow readers to catch their breath as he moves from one story to another without pause. Words like astonished,
terrified, and amazed punctuate Mark’s narrative, leaving no doubt that an encounter with the earthly Jesus was nothing short of spectacular and unnerving.
