Do most people who believe in God taste and see that He is good? Do most even know what that means? Have they sought enough? Have they pressed in enough? Have they experienced both the good and the terrible and still seen God as Sovereign and Mighty? Or have they simply been fair weathered, expecting that there would be no persecution, there would be no judgments?
If anyone really knows God, then they know He is no respecter of persons. It maybe seems a poor marketing strategy, but as for persecution, we are told plainly that it will happen. As for judgment, it comes. We all face it for ourselves, and no one can stand in for us, except the One that already did. The world that already seems to be unhinged at times, is now spinning wildly toward a dramatic conclusion, or maybe a collision with a still Holy God.
The contents here are judgments. If they were not, He would not call them so. Can they be avoided? The question was asked but not answered. Perhaps some will be interceded for, but that remains to be seen.
God is speaking all the time, through His word, through nature, through others, and He always sends out warnings. Why? He wants to wake the people up so that they might know Who He is, personally, and turn from where they are heading or where they are. Amos 3:7 NKJV says: Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. So please, Take Heed.
