A maxim is a short statement of a general truth, principle, or rule for behavior. These truths should be first taught to us by our parents. Our parents have a choice to teach us how to make good choices in a world of free will. This includes how to establish alliances vital to our survival and success.

With an established expiration date for our lives, we begin walking in the valley of the shadow of death upon taking our first steps as a toddler. With proper training from our parents, we should quickly walk into a personal relationship with a Shepherd who has promised to walk with us giving us rest, water, and food until we are evacuated by our great King who wrote the Operations Order for living a life at war with the people and elements of this foreign land.

I would encourage fathers and sons of any age, to read the book together and discuss the maxims throughout this book. Be honest–real and raw. Create your own maxims to pass on to your future generations. Leave a legacy. I pray you will embody what the Apostle Paul wrote about: Fight the good fight, keep the faith, and finish the race.
