Dad put the Joyful rock on our porch table with houseplants next to our front door when we got home. Why are you putting it out here? I asked him. He responded, I think it’s important to share the rock with other people too. So, they can also experience joy.
But what if it gets ruined by the rain? I wondered. He shrugged and smiled. Then, we can paint ‘Joyful’ on again. After a while, the word started to fade, so we did just that. We painted the word again in white with pictures all around it. A star, and four hearts to represent me, Jacob, Dad, and a teacher who changed our lives.
