Hunger for Significance, The

Every human being wants to be treated with dignity and worth. When we aren’t respected, we suffer. Though it can be taken to a sinful extreme, this desire for respect isn’t wrong. In fact, it reflects a deep-down awareness that we are made in the image of God. We ought to be treated with honor and compassion–and, even more importantly, we ought to treat others the same way.
