Who wouldn’t love a special emu like Laurus? No wonder she was so treasured by the ranch family. Mrs. Smith’s stories appeal to a wide range of readers. Cheryl Simanek, MA Mid Western University, Downers Grove, Illinois Here are stories of challenge and information worth sharing that preteens and teens will find interesting and different. I found the story of Manfred to be redeeming. Therese Taylor Santa Rosa, CA Fun, factual, fabulous, and all the good stuff that goes into a great read. These stories appeal to young and old. How clever to teach us about an animal and a lesson on life breaks out! Dorothy Smith has a comfortable, story-telling style that makes the reader want more. Gail Kikkert, (ret) Junior High teacher I found these four stories to be simply charming. My favorite one was Manfred, the Blue Goat (as in sad) in Switzerland . Manfred was trapped in an environment where he did not belong. Once freed, he was able to be himself and help others. I give my positive endorsement of this book because these stories are great reads for children of all ages. Jamie Lockwood Director of the Manteno Public Library Dorothy A. Smith has captured the anguish of a natural disaster and how help can come in mysterious ways, in Hugger, a Tarsier Monkey in the Philippines.
