Archeologist Dr. Stephen Saint Gabriel, his wife, Nicki, and their team from Archeological Research Associates are drawn into an investigation of possible first century artifacts in ancient Antioch. The objects seem to be associated with the Cave Church of St. Peter in Antioch, perhaps the earliest place of worship for first century Christians still in use. They believe what is to be found there could shed new light on early Christianity, but the team is warned away.
Determined to move forward, yet fearing for the team’s safety, Gabby enlists the aid of his friend and private investigator, Patrick Orion, in hopes of discovering who wants to stop him. Orion learns Gabby’s nemesis is The Enlightened Ones, a shadowy, but powerful group long dedicated to shaping the world for its own ends. Convinced he also needs armed protection, he turns to the Order of Christ, the modern expression of the Knights Templar, for help. The Order has been interested in countering TEO’s nefarious interference in world events, and quickly agrees to provide resources, including armed protection.
What ensues is a roller coaster ride of discovery, betrayal, intrigue, excitement, and danger. As the Order attempts to neutralize TEO, their power and reach become even more obvious. And just as Gabriel begins making discoveries that will rewrite the early history of Christianity, his adversaries close in with deadly force, seeking to destroy his finds and him.
