The year is 1964 and the Vietnam War is escalating. John Heffel, an Amish lad, wants to impress Daniel's younger sister, Hannah. But Hannah is infatuated with the Englische boy, Jonathan. John and Jonathan join the Army and are sent to Vietnam. During a night raid on a Viet Cong village, the two men are caught in the bombing. Who gets Hannah's heart? Meanwhile, Daniel, working full-time at the mill, and as the teacher; can he handle the demands of marriage and adulthood?
