About Virgil Oglesby: Virgil a veteran of 28 years in the U.S. Army, his career having spanned the period from World War II through the end of the Vietnam conflict. He rose through the ranks from private to Lieutenant Colonel. Oglesby served in Airborne, Special Forces and Special Operations, and was a battalion commander in Vietnam. His exemplary service brought him a number of awards, including a Silver Star, Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, seven Bronze Stars and numerous Army and Air Force Commendations Medals along with the Purple Heart. Colonel Oglesby and his wife Grace each have grown sons. They now live in retirement in Brandon, Florida, where he spends his time writing and fishing. After retiring from the Air Force in 1989 he entered a second career, teaching math at Arizona State University, and retired in 2007. He and his wife, Carol, live in Chandler, Arizona, enjoying weeks that each have one Sunday and six Saturdays.
