Muddy Boots: Essays of a Field Biologist

Mother Nature is full of extraordinary species, events, images and catastrophes. Many are not easy to spot, or to understand. In the profession of planetary detective, otherwise known as an ecologist, I perform missions akin to the CIA but without their generous budget. I work under deadlines, because global change requires us to hurry up and find answers. Throughout this detective work, the beauty, complexity and incredible machinery of machine dazzles my five senses. It fills me with never-ending wonder, and I relish getting my boots muddy!
