Nash’s House, Chapel Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England is the house next door to the ruins and gardens of William Shakespeare’s final residence, New Place. It has been converted into a museum that is perfect for kids! It traces the history of Stratford-upon-Avon from the earliest settlers in the Avon Valley to Shakespeare’s time. There are lots of fun hands-on activities there for kids making it the perfect place to visit after you have visited all the other housed in the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, which acquired New Place and Nash’s House in 1876. New Place is basically not existent, and what you see there looks more like a vacant lot than anything else; however they are uncovering things on the lot all the time, so the various exhibits keep growing with the continued research and discovery. Nash’s House was named after Thomas Nash, who was the first husband of Shakespeare’s granddaughter, Elizabeth. The ground floor is furnished as it would have been in Nash’s day. Enjoy the photography of John D. Weigand as you explore Nash’s House and practice your reading skills through word recognition, repetition and rhyme; and then watch a fun music video on the Bellissimavideo YouTube Channel that goes with this book for even more learning fun!
