Chef Shelbert is the ninth book in the series The Adventures of Kicker and Flinnder.

Shelbert the turtle is learning to cook from the cookbook given to him by his grandmother. When he joins Kicker, Flinnder and other friends to show what he has been learning, they are all surprised by Kicker’s reaction.

Kicker shares that he is embarrassed to admit that he is allergic to eggs and cannot eat what Shelbert had prepared for them. His friends assure him, though, that an allergy is nothing to be embarrassed about.

The second portion of this book contains six child-friendly recipes.
