Joseph Altshelter was a journalist and juvenile fiction writer. The Guns of Shiloh is set during the Civil War. Dick Mason is a soldier fighting for the North in Grants army. He is there during Grant’s first campaign. There are two other novels form this series. In them Harry Kenton tells the story from the southern point of view.
