This is the third volume of a new three-volume translation of the New Testament. It contains the letters attributed to James, Peter, John, and Judas (Jude) as well as Revelation. If the figures of Jesus and Paul sounded the first notes of the Christian tradition and stated its themes, we can very well say that the works found in this last volume are the "fantasy & fugue" portion of the canon: they are the subsequent development and at times ornate flowering of the message. These range from the practical admonishments of James and Peter to the intimate but cautionary counsel that John offers in his "epistles of light." That all of this culminates in the baroque apocalyptic of "A Revelation to John" should surprise none: the genre has never gone out of fashion!
