This is the first volume of a new three-volume translation of the New Testament. It contains the four canonical gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. Its aim is to present the foundational Christian document in a way that emphasizes the configuration and the flow of the original texts. To accomplish this, the text is presented in a pre-theological fashion: they are read first and foremost as declarations of how God's victory has been won by the "christ crucified," one Jesus of Nazareth, and how that proclamation shatters what went before it and transforms what comes after it. This translation presents Jesus, not inevitably as the trinitarian Son of God, but rather, as the supremely obedient slave who faithfully lives and dies according to the requirements of the law.
