Grayson County, Virginia, was formed in 1792 from portions of Patrick and Wythe Counties, and is located near the convergence of the North Carolina and Tennessee borders. The county is bounded by New River and Wythe County on the North, and by the Blue Ridge and state of North Carolina on the South, and was first known as Botetourt District, and afterwards, as Washington and Montgomery Districts. This work provides a basic foundation and a fundamental source for beginning your genealogical research into pioneers of Grayson County, Virginia. Unlike many of the early 20th Century historical and genealogical authors, Mr. Nuckolls focuses almost exclusively on the Pioneer Families, including the progenitors, progenies, and families allied by marriage, following many of them through several generations. This work includes references to approximately 4,000 individuals. The principal families addressed in this volume include: Anderson, Asbury, Blair, Bourne, Bryan, Canute, Carico, Coltrane, Cooley, Cornett, Cox, Davis, Dickey, Dickinson, Dow, Early, Felts, Fulton, Garland, Garrison, Goodykoontz, Gwyn, Hale, Hanks, Hash, Isom, Johnston, Jones, Kenny, Kyle, La Rowe, Lenoir, Lundy, McCamant, McMillan, Moore, Nuckolls, Oglesby, Osborne, Pendleton, Perkins, Phipps, Phlegar, Piper, Pugh, Reeves, Scott, Sheffy, Smith, Swift, Thomas, Vaughn, Ward, Waugh, Worrell, Young. Softcover, (1914), repr. 2011, Illus., Index, 290 pp.
