Dear Kathryn

What if we had letters from Mary and Joseph, Jesus and his disciples, and so many of the other people we read about in the Bible?

In this book of speculative fiction, Janet Genera has composed letters from dozens of people who lived during the time of Jesus. Beginning with the events surrounding the Annunciation and continuing through Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, and resurrection, these letters draw us into the lives of biblical characters and help us imagine what each of them might have thought and felt.

Each of the 80+ letters is written to Kathryn, a holy woman who is housebound due to some unnamed affliction. She is well-known for her wisdom, kindness, and truthfulness. In reading these letters, we get a sense of how Kathryn might have helped Jesus’ family, friends, and followers address their problems and persevere in their journey with Jesus.
