Jorge Castellanos nacio en Guantanamo, Cuba en 1915 y fallecio exiliado en Miami, Florida, USA. Fue profesor en la Universidad de Oriente en Cuba y en Marygrove College de Detroit. Coautor con su hija, Isabel Castellanos, de la obra CULTURA AFROCUBANA, una de ls obras mas importantes y completas, en 4 tomos, sobre el tema y tambien de Pioneros de la etnografia afrocubana.
En esta obra el Dr. Castellanos hace un estudio sobre el encuentro de tres paises: Espana, Cuba y Estados Unidos en la Guerra Hispano-cubano-americana de 1898, estudiando las figuras centrales de, espanol Pascual Cervera, almirante de la flota espanola; Calixto Garcia, general del ejercito mambi de los cubanos; Theodoro Roosevelt principal organizador del ejercito norteamericano que desembarco en cuba y Juan Gualberto Gomez, el cubano que mas ayudo a Marti para preparar el alzamiento de la Guerra de Independencia en 1895..
Jorge Castellanos was born in Guantanamo, Cuba in 1915 and died in exile in Miami, Florida, USA. He was a professor at the Universidad de Oriente in Cuba and at Marygrove College in Detroit. Co-author with his daughter, Isabel Castellanos, of the work CULTURA AFROCUBANA, one of the most important and complete works, in 4 volumes, on the subject and also of Pioneers of Afro-Cuban ethnography.
In this work, Dr. Castellanos makes a study of the meeting of three countries: Spain, Cuba and the United States in the Spanish-Cuban-American War of 1898, studying the central figures of, Spanish Pascual Cervera, admiral of the Spanish fleet; Calixto Garcia, general of the Mambi army of the Cubans; Theodoro Roosevelt, the main organizer of the US Army that landed in Cuba, and Juan Gualberto Gomez, the Cuban who most helped Marti to prepare for the uprising of the War of Independence in 1895.
