James Byron Dean will forever be remembered as one of the few truly iconic American figures of the 20th century. Legendary director Elia Kazan recognized Dean's raw talent and chose him for the lead in East of Eden. From there Dean went on to star in perhaps his most iconic film, Rebel Without a Cause. Dean's career was tragically cut short when he died in a car crash shortly after filming Giant. He was only 24 years old. Shortly thereafter a legend was born. Dean is the only actor to have posthumously received two Academy Award nominations for Best Actor. Because of his brilliant and groundbreaking performances on television and in film, James Dean continues to fascinate each new generation long after his tragic death.
