Gettin’ Through Thursday

Illustrated by Nneka Bennett. Andre dreads Thursdays. It’s the day before his mother gets paid at work each week - it’s the day when money is tight and spirits are low for Andre and his family. It’s also the day that he gets his school report card and in spite of expecting a glowing report, he’s anxious because his mother has told him she’ll throw a party for such an event but he just can’t see this happening on Thursday.
