More Literature Circles: Cooperative Learning for Grades 3-8

This book complements Literature Circles because it features different books from those in Literature Circles. The audience is teachers of intermediate-grade students. A literature circle is a group of students reading the same novel and cooperative learning refers to a group working together on the novel to accomplish a common goal. The program increases the amount of reading students do, provides opportunity for inquiry and critical thinking, and teaches students how to work cooperatively. The first section explains how to use the book. The second section consists of five picture books with related projects; each book represents a concept. The last section is divided into five conceptual groupings containing 38 novels.
