Balance disorders affect 40 percent of all individual over forty-five years of age. These symptoms are often poorly diagnosed and, in many cases, remain untreated. There are many excellent books and lots of literature available on various topics of balance disorders. This small book is an effort to simplify this complex issue. Its aim is to provide basic knowledge at the level of a junior registrar, primary care physicians, and trainee audiologists. This can be used as a simplified guideline to deal with patients. Diagnosis of balance problems can be quite challenging. It is a very common practice with number of practitioners at the junior level to send patients for unnecessary balance lab investigations without understanding the rationale and limitations of these tests.
