I Am, Who I Am--using the arts to preserve traditional Apsaalooke knowledge and strengthen the indigenous identity of Native children. Apsaalooke Voices and Stories is inspired by the It Gets Brighter project with the IHS Partnership at Dartmouth College and a desire to strengthen the native identity and self-esteem of native youth. My project aimed to use the arts to preserve traditional Apsaalooke knowledge and strengthen the indigenous identity of native children. In collaboration with local schools, Dartmouth College, and the Running Strong for American Indian Youth Foundation, native youth were given the tools necessary to create their own books--books that will reflect their cultures, environment, and experiences as native youth.
