The author, Grady W. Troute, was an elder with the Centerville Church of Christ in Centerville, Ohio for about three decades. It was a work of love. He since has become a member of a smaller sister congregation in Middletown, Ohio. There he has written a bulletin article each week for over a year. This also has been a work of love. It is good to be in a situation where Bible research is a continuing, regular requirement.

This book is dedicated to Grady’s three fine nieces, Bonnie, Kay, and Jeannie, and a deceased nephew, Tommy, the children of Grady’s sister, Ruth Ellis and her husband Troy Ellis. Their firstborn, Tommy, died tragically at age five of leukemia. The three nieces were born later.

Grady’s sister, his only sibling, was 13 years older than he. She and the rest of the family called him Sonny . Hence, his nieces have always called him Uncle Son . It may be an odd nickname, but it has a warm sound.

Grady and his wife Sharon Shipley Troute live in Franklin, Ohio. Sharon, a retired counselor by career, provides Grady with inspiration, advice, and proof reading. Sharon has written several articles for Christian Woman Magazine , and has been a speaker for Ladies’ retreats.

Grady’s background is mostly technical, involving both airborne and earth-based computer systems. The last years of his professional career were spent in management with General Motors and Electronic Data Systems. Grady’s early career carried him to multiple cities along the Eastern seaboard, following mostly Government contract projects. It was a blessing to worship with several different congregations among many kindred spirits. Memories gradually fade, but the cumulative impact continues to warm the heart.
