The Colorful World of Emily - The First Day of School is a heartwarming story about a five year old contemplative girl and how she ventures into kindergarten with her curly hair. Excited to start and ready to go, she begins to notice those unique swirls now more than ever. At every turn those messy curls seem to prevent her from making friends in her new school. She internalizes her feelings, after all she’s only five and everything is brand new. The once confident Emily begins to question who she in the world as the realizes how unique she (and everyone else) actually is. Will she ever find a place where she belongs?
Kiki Charriez is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force. Her civilian career began shortly afterwards as a Business Development Sales Manager in NYC. More than anything, her children have always been the catalyst for her inspiration, drive and success. Once becoming a mother of three, she felt the need to become a stay at home mother. Leaving her career wasn’t easy but within that timeframe the author within her was discovered. Her goal as a children’s book author is to encourage young readers to love, learn and overcome; using her voice in written words to tell an encouraging story. She believes that teaching multiculturalism and diversity creates a society where all children can embrace being themselves; a society where they can feel accepted and accept others around them. A child’s future is determined by their beginnings…and she’s hoping to be a part of that beginning here. Kiki Charriez lives in The Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania with her husband Orlando Charriez and their four children Evan, Ethan, Emily and Aiden.
