Mission work requires living with ambiguity; you never know what’s going to happen next. In the1990s, Belva Chang became a freelance missionary in Haiti. During her mission adventures, she observed scriptural principles play out in the lives of the people around her. Nearly two and a half decades later, her granddaughter also found herself embarking on a week-long mission trip to Haiti. There, she was able to see what had changed since her grandmother’s day… and what had not. Whether you are interested in international culture, pursuing a career in missions, or simply looking for a bit of entertainment, join grandmother and granddaughter in the stories of how they learned to live with ambiguity. AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY Belva Chang, an alumna of Kansas University and Washburn University, is a retired nurse and lawyer who moved from Kansas to Texas to be closer to her family. In years past, she enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching. In addition to leading a weekly small group, Belva spends her time creating culinary delights and playing Scrabble online. Belva’s granddaughter, Christine Chang, who was born and raised primarily in Texas, recently received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Houston-Victoria and is currently pursuing an Associate of Business at Victoria College. Along with full-time school and part-time work as a tutor, she leads worship and small group with her church’s college ministry. She is passionate about God’s Word and is studying biblical Hebrew.
