Chief Inspector Cam Fergus hated the return of autumn. Walking up Church Street from his home overlooking the River Wye towards the police station, Cam pondered why it seemed that autumn always put him in such a foul mood. He thought about the gardens growing barren, the leaves falling from the trees leaving their bare limbs stretching like skeletons into the grey sky, To him, autumn signified in a word…death.
When a 999 call, reporting remains found at an archeological dig at Goodrich Castle , was received at the station, Cam couldn’t help but think to himself, ‘another autumn…another death.’
