Anthony Armadillo travels to Alabama in time for its bicentennial celebration. He adventures in different cities and places. Anthony travels by train, plane, and boat. Along his travels, he meets several of the state’s animals and insects. He even gets to ride in a racecar and attend a horseshow. The names of the animals that Anthony meets are in an alliterative form such as Herman Horse. There is a parade at the end of the book and includes a glossary.
