ALASKA TRANSIT tracks Anchorage Policewoman Sasha Kulaeva and her detective partners as they attempt (with only moderate success) to stem the tide of heroin flowing into Alaska from Russia. They manage pretty well on their home turf, Anchorage. But when Sasha has to take the fight across the Bering Sea, to Russia, things get complicated. And dangerous.

The story follows the drug from its origins-a twenty-hectare patch of mountain pasture close to Kabul, in Afghanistan. We follow as it’s processed in Jalalabad, then smuggled by truck across four international borders, to Russia. Once there, it’s carried onto the TransSiberian Railroad heading east, toward Vladivostok. When it reaches the Pacific, it travels by air and sea to the United States. Sasha realizes the impossibility of completely stemming the flow of the world’s most popular drug. But maybe, just maybe, she can put a temporary roadblock in the traffic. That’s if she can survive the attempt.
