Pete Morrissette's wife Cath has passed on and Pete finds himself at a crossroads. No longer willing or able to mow the lawn or dig out the driveway in winter he decides he must find a new way of life and settles on the assisted living community of Brook Haven in Central Massachusetts where life is pleasant and the amenities comfortable.
