Few other Upstate counties can boast as much history as South Carolina’s Union County. It is known as the birthplace of the Confederacy, with Revolutionary War battles fought at Blackstock’s, Musgrove Mill, and Fish Dam. Early 20th-century Union offered the world’s largest cotton mill and multiple mill village communities, with Main Street serving as a cultural center bustling with large early hotels, opera houses, and numerous fine examples of antebellum architecture.
