Robert Walton Griggs grew up in Williams, Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a 60 year career in the aerospace technology industry in California. At the same time, he maintained a desire for playing various card games for relaxation. Bridge was one of his favorites. Eventually he transitioned to the relatively niche game of Panguingue, and was a regular contributor on the subject to several gambling trade publications. It became increasingly obvious that a comprehensive set of rules did not exist, and this volume is a result of that observation. Panguingue has been historically characterized as a game where rules variations abound. This is certainly true for different regions of the country, but is also common enough for clubs in the same geographic locale. The rules set forth in this volume were recorded after extensive review by current and former professional pan dealers and card room managers. In many cases the rules variations are identified herein, with the preferred rulings listed first. The rules as presented will be found to be in force at a majority of casinos open to the general public.
