Georgia During Reconstruction

During Reconstruction, between 1865 and 1871, the people of Georgia were faced with rebuilding their state, which had been torn apart during the American Civil War. The government was being restructured, new amendments were added to the U.S. Constitution, and racial tensions were growing. The Freedmen’s Bureau and the Ku Klux Klan were both founded during this time. Tenant farming and sharecropping were on the rise.
