Back when I was in early high school, I wrote a short story called The Little Grey Tractor. This story was based on experiences that my dad and his parents when through. It seems odd in our minds today, but in 1967 no one in Australia believed that bush fires could or would penetrate urban areas, and come into the city. Bushfires happened in the bush.
I have never been able to throw out the little book and always in the back of my mind was the thought to rewrite it as an adult. Living in Australia, weather extremes, is a topic that we never fail to enjoy discussing, and with some of the devastating fires that have in more recent years claimed lives, I don’t want people to forget what happened, and why.
