The Beggar is a story of a child, Ronald, who finds himself trapped to his treacherous destiny. After being disowned by his family, he finds begging as his only path to survival. In the company of other beggars, Ronald finds the elusive warmth of a family where he rekindles his dreams of succeeding. However, he is betrayed by his friends who attempt to murder him. Ronald miraculously survives; breaking through various societal barriers, he endeavours to reunite with his mum. However, his deceitful destiny betrays him again and he ends up as a slave on a farm. Ronald is not ready to give up yet. In the company of other slaves, he continues to dream; of liberty and freedom; of uniting with his mum; of succeeding in life. They form a team of slaves and plan to escape. Defying death at each step, he and his two companions set-off in their bid to gain freedom. In this impossible escape mission his companion’s parish, however, Ronald vows to achieve freedom or die trying. Who will win in this fight between sheer hope and determination on one side, and a cruel destiny on another? Will Ronald gain his freedom? Will he reunite with his mum? Will he taste success?
