The book is about a retired engineer, Jim North, now a sailor on a small boat, who is trying for the first time in his life to follow the Lord’s leadership. He struggles to understand feelings of urgency, wondering whether they are from the Lord, or of his own carnal doing. When he finally surrenders to God’s leading, he is richly blessed by seeing some of His great works. He initially follows the Lord’s leadership to help a group of Jews get back to Israel. God then uses him in a way to warn the world of God’s intention to bring temporary peace to Israel, after great turmoil, and to return more Jews to the Holy Land. His adventures take him to many ports, place him in direct contact with powerful political leaders, and give him more action than he desires, on occasion. In the process of seeing God work, Jim tries to witness to those with whom he comes in contact, but finds that he is lacking in witnessing and discipleship skills. He realizes he should have been more devoted in his relationship with Christ throughout his life. While many of the events in the book take place on a sailboat, and there are several nautical scenes, the story is primarily about Jim North’s growth in following God’s leadership. The writer has been a Christian for many years and a deacon in the Baptist Church, teaching adult education classes. He is a retired aerospace engineer and has been a sailor for most of his adult life and has cruised in the Bahamas and along the East and West coasts of the United States. He now resides with his wife Margaret in Queen Creek, Arizona.
