Purple was one of many colors in the curtains of the tabernacle and in the high priest’s garment, but even in the priest’s garment. I believe purple represented intercession on the behalf of the sins of Israel. All of the pagan kings wore purple as a declaration of power including the Rich Man in Luke 16:19.
