This Informative book will help the reader to gain a more accurate view of the many aspects of Domestic Violence. Many in today’s world seem to think that Domestic Violence is merely hitting or battering an individual. In truth, it is much more. Domestic Violence can escalate from controlling behaviors to full physical violence over a span of time. There is no magic formula with which to gauge how long this will take. For me it took many, many years. However, in spite of my counseling education, I remained oblivious to all the facets until I finally woke up.It takes a lot of guts and fortitude to leave an abusive situation; however, many never seem to manage it. The steps I took are within the pages of this book along with suggested further reading. Every person knows someone who is living with Domestic Violence in one form or another. Here are steps to help self and others learn to live a healthy and ‘normal’ life. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Anna Jean Gaissert is a Retired Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 28 years of experience in all areas of counseling. She has worked with School Systems, Mental Health Agencies, Drug Advisory Board, Served on Juvenile Court Panel, and Lead Support/Recovery Groups for churches and community. Serving on Crisis Response teams has also been part of her counseling career and she worked closely with the families of the 1996 Olympic Bombing tragedy in Atlanta. She has also written for professional journals and published two books for use in the education setting. Now retired, she spends her time in volunteer work with her church and community and is now a Stephen Minister - a position which is an extension her counseling career.
