It’s wonderful when you discover your gifts and talents…especially when you are young with your whole life ahead of you. There is a special feeling you have when you are doing what you love, and time seems to stand still. Other people comment on how well you do it, and that makes you feel good about yourself. Far too often adults focus on molding a young life into what they want that boy or girl to become and overlook the perfect design of the Master Potter. Thank goodness there are wonderful talent scouts in our world who study others lovingly in order to identify those talents and share the belief that every child has the seeds of greatness in his or her soul. Mrs. Louise Jenkins was just such an adult who inspired her students to do what they loved. She was an awesome talent scout. Gwen Rollings taught college students in Human Communication for twenty years. During that time she became increasingly aware of how many young adults were pursuing degrees to which they had no special talent, ability, or even interest. They were doomed to either failure or long unfulfilling careers. After writing three books on women’s issues, she changed her focus to celebrating the potential seeds of greatness in each child and acknowledging adults who nourish these seeds to grow.
