A few months into the relationship Skip traveled to Virginia to meet with Beverly’s older brother and seek his approval to potentially marry Beverly–as both her parents were deceased. After several hours of intense interrogation and a follow-up visit, her brother finally consented. The couple courted for six months and then got engaged. During the time of their courtship and engagement they faithfully attended premarital counseling for an entire year. The premarital counseling proved to be invaluable. Shortly after marriage, the Lord inspired them to provide additional guidance to other couples in their church who were contemplating marriage and So You Think You Want to Get Married was born. Currently, Skip and Beverly serve as the Married Couples’ Ministers at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Maryland. In this role, they provide pre-marital and marital support to thousands of individuals and couples.
